Thursday Night Football Preview: Cowboys at Eagles
Line: Eagles -7 | Total: 47 | TNF
A heavyweight NFC East opener with Philly laying a touchdown and a mid-range total. The spread implies Eagles control at home… but Dallas can still find spots if they lean pass. Below uses DVP: stars stay in lineups, matchups help us find or fade flex plays.
Cowboys vs Eagles Fantasy Points Against Chart
Quarterbacks
Dak Prescott (DAL vs PHI) – 4th-hardest QB matchup. Volume should show as a road underdog, but efficiency risk is real with tough Philly defense. Top 5 upside if the matchup becomes high scoring as the total implies. Mid QB1/2 range, not a smash.
Jalen Hurts (PHI vs DAL) – 1st-easiest QB matchup. Dream spot. Elite QB1 start with both rushing and passing paths to a spike week.
Wide Receivers
CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens (DAL vs PHI) – 7th-hardest WR matchup Lamb is matchup-proof, still elite WR1. Should be worked around the offense and used more in the short passing game with Eagles defensive line causing havoc. Pickens is a volatile low-end WR2 rather than a lock. Curious to see volume and usage in Dallas, will be telling for the rest of the season.
AJ Brown, Devonta Smith (PHI vs DAL) – 7th-easiest WR matchup. Favorable across the board for both WR. Brown projects as the target hog, elite WR1. Coming off a preseason injury that held him out, should be at full strength. Smith brings splash WR2/3 play with limited upside. With Micah Parsons in Green Bay, this is going to make this passing game even more lethal.
Running Backs
Javonte Williams (DAL vs PHI) – 2nd-hardest RB matchup. Rough on the ground vs Eagles line. Mild Flex only if you are banking on checkdowns or goal-line luck. Could be a committee, will be interesting to see initial usage. Needs a TD to justify starting in 12 team leagues.
Saquon Barkley (PHI vs DAL) – 12th-easiest RB matchup (near-neutral, slightly favorable). Not a layup, but positive enough. Still a locked-in elite RB1 on talent and role. Cowboys added Kenny Clark, which should help their line. Still expect Saquon to be Saquon.
Tight Ends
Jake Ferguson (DAL vs PHI) – 2nd-hardest TE matchup (top-5 vs TEs). Slight downgrade in this matchup. Stream only if you are leaning into Dak volume. TD Dependent TE2, but could have a few additonal opportunities if this defense is lackluster.
Dallas Goedert (PHI vs DAL) – 7th-hardest TE matchup (top-10 vs TEs). Ceiling is capped, but remains a back-end TE1 on talent and ties to great offense.
